How to Get AAC APPS FOR FREE as an SLP
Let’s talk about free access to AAC apps as a Speech Therapist! Are you a busy SLP wanting to start AAC, but not sure where to go? Did you have no idea you could get free apps? Is there a really long waitlist to see an AT specialist in your area? Do you want to learn and explore your users AAC system, but can’t afford the price tag? If you answered YES to any of these questions, this blog post is for you! I am going to show you how to access my top 4 AAC apps for FREE as an SLP.
TD SNAP
This is probably the easiest, so we will start here! All speech therapists with an ASHA number are provided a complimentary version of TD Snap. This means you can access Core First and Motor Planning page sets for free in a few simple steps. Start by heading to MyTobiiDynavox and create an account. Under “Professionals” you will need to complete a membership form. Use your ASHA number. It could take a few days, but it will verify! Then you can use the professionals tab to find access to all the great things available to you. **When you log in on your iPad be sure to use the SAME mytobiidynavox account.
TOUCHCHAT
TouchChat Partner is the new(er) way to access TouchChat. If you head to the website here. You can fill out the form. It is pretty simple and requires some personal information. You are also required to complete a TouchChat Training either online or in person with your representative. The company recommends you add TouchChat discover to your iOS device first (this is a free 30 day trial). You can take the online course in their AAC Learning Journey platform here. Then complete the application and get your code within a few weeks. They send you all the details on updating to the full app!
LAMP WORDS FOR LIFE
The LAMP Partner Program is your way to access a FREE version of the app. You will have to complete a few trainings to do this. They do the trainings so that you are able to really understand the design of their language system. It is unique and there is a very specific purpose for everything. If you head here you can fill out the application. You are required to take LAMP Approach Training and one additional training. These additional ones can be online or in person are listed directly on the application for you to see. Once you have been approved they will send you details on claiming you free app!
PROLOQUO2GO
Getting access to proloquo2go is a little harder. The company is allowed to give out a certain number of codes per Apple App store. So they often have a waitlist to access the FREE version. If you contact their support line. Someone will respond to you and provide you a form to fill out. This will contain all the necessary information they need to distribute their free copies. This process can take months depending on what the waitlist looks like. Here is the email! support@assistiveware.com
